| It
was two weeks before my trip to Florida for the first time in 1998
and my legs hurt so bad I could hardly walk. When the doctor told
me I had diabetes and handed me a diet sheet and sent me on my way,
I felt lost and then I found alt.support.diabetes
(ASD) and until
recently I've found it to be a true lifesaver. I've enjoyed posting
and supporting and meeting so many people from all over the world.
About two months
ago (November 2001) I had my first diabetes-related hospitalization
and believe me when I say NEVER again. I hope so anyway. I still
have not reached my personal diabetes control goals but I plan to
this year. My numbers when I first started going to ASD were 500+
mg/dL (27.7+ mmol/L) and Jude, Jan, Kate, Wolf, Charles, Bob H and
a few other oldies surely saved my life and I am eternally grateful
to them. Support to me is the biggest help there to help me maintain
control and some sense of balance to this disease.
