| I
was recently diagnosed when I went to the doctor for a bout of Phlebitis.
I took the time to ask about the symptoms I was experiencing (diminished
vision, fatigue at work, frequent urination at night) and they sent
me in for blood tests. I had gone before for the same tests, but
they hadn't been worried before. This time they announced my diabetes
and I've been under Dr's care ever since (October 2001).
I have since lost
about 26 lbs, most of which I attribute to diet pop instead of the
sugared pop I used to consume frequently (2-3 cans a day). I am
still being stubborn about eliminating all suger from my diet, but
I am doing better. Am I lying to myself? I have been working out
at the YMCA 3 days a week, some weight training, some racquetball,
and have seen some results from that. I received a Body
For Life book from my friend for Christmas, so I'm anxious to
read that through along with the three other diabetes books I've
gotten also. I am mostly watching my carbs and paying attention
to fat content of foods I eat, though I don't keep a diary as well
as I should (OK, I stopped at Thanksgiving and need to start again).
